Family Reunion

HEY, TELL EVERYONE HELLO FOR ME :) LOVE YOU ALL hope you all are having fun.
we had a really cool experience last week on fast sunday, and this
week as well, and man the work is picking up Elder Fagg and i have set
a goal to teach at least 10 lessons each week, and the work is
starting to pick up and the investigators are progressing well, there
is so much to say and not a whole lot of time haha so im trying to
decided between writing and sending pictures right now so i think ill
just send pictures for everyone and then write a bit more next week,
BUT first of all Fathers DAY is next week- DAD I LOVE YOU! your are
the greatest example in my life of being christ like and i know as i
try to be more like you ill be becoming  more like the savior because
you have built your life around the important things and im so
grateful for you and mom i love you guys and im so grateful for all
you do for me and us as a family, stay strong father! :)
FAMILY- HEY guys AFRICA IS THE BEST MISSION EVER! i really love it
here and dont want to be anywhere else right now! I LOVE YOU ALL SO
MUCH

An Incredible Story

Hey
its all good, how was the move? did everything go ok?
so ya i was thinking about that and i decided that ill just buy
everything here. so ya the only thing you need to send is pictures and
candy :) haha i heard if you use The Flat Rate boxes/ envelopes from
the post office i dont have to pay customs, so make it light as
possible please hahah but another thing probably dont send anything
for a while because last week. A huge mob radided the area post office
and burned everything inside, dont know why but we heard it was in
protest of the rasing of stamp prices soooooo hopefully by the reunion
things will be back to normal haha
DID you pour sidewalk?? man thats crazy how does it look?
oh coach sheilds? MAN i love that guy he was so cool! Tell sage to
tell them HI FOR ME! :) yeah i will deffintanly have to do that with
the members here thanks. Yeah i am learning that right now, im not so
scared anymore i dont care what peopel think of me because chances are
im never going to see them again and this message is SO IMPOARTANT! so
i am learning to be bold and i have a goal to bear my testimony or
bear testimony of the truthfulness of a principle of the gosple in
everyone i talk with, its really easy i have found. and like we are
told when you testify of something true peopel will feel the spirit
and the spirit is the key, only the spirit converets. but yeah things
are all dead and brown here. its crazy the weeds and grass on the side
of the road and in feilds grows HUGE! so around this time they just
burn it all so the hill sides are all on fire and there is smoke every
where, its hard to breath sometimes when your riding through it and i
smell like smoke quite a bit latley haha but yeah its getting cold
here and none of the houses have heating or insulation and we have
tile floors so i gotta go get a jacket and some other stuff haha,
Elder Foster is going home TOMORROW!!!!!! its so werid to see the
other side of mission right now i just got here.....but i have
deffintatnly learned a lot from him its been good, Transfers are
tomorrow- tuesday so im getting a new companion, im not supposed to
know who it is but i found out hehe so ill keep you in suppens till
text week -HINT: he has an accent haha  anyways i hope hes a good guy.
I met Elder Heartman and his wife they are really nice peopel and very
fun to talk too haha i had a good time and i met Doctor Calahan and
his wife as well, got to talk about home it was nice haha he was Aunt
Thaneldas doctor i guess. oh i also meet President Lundeens Brother in
Law at the Distribition Center when we went to the temple so you can
tell him if you see him i guess haha. oh man Last week monday we went
to SOCCER CITY AND THE CARLOTON CENTER (tallest building in AFRICA) it
was really fun took some really cool pictures but once again i cant
send them from this internet cafe so im still trying to figure out a
way i can do that. But this week we went to PalaniesBurg game reserve
and national park and just the highlights saw lots of Rhinos lots of
bucks and zebras and wildabeast, and I was litterally 5 feet away from
an elephant!!!! got some awesome pictures and video!
Oh well the work is going, its hard and slow but its moving, we have
our one progressing investigator on date for baptism on June 17. his
name is pieter so hopefully that all goes well, i think it will hes
really been prepaired by the lord and has a real desire to learn and
follow the savior. About Jesse no i think hes just decided on his own
hes a smart kid and he knows what he needs to do. I do e-mail him
though,
well thats about all for this week, next week ill have a new comp. and
new experiences cant wait :) love you all and cant wait to hear from
you again  thanks for all you do and all your sacrifice to help me on
mission i love you all so much.

How Goes The Work

i know time is going by so fast but at the same time so slow!!! hahah
its weird, but thats crazy the reunion is next week!!! wow im so happy
you and mom can see each other again! hope all goes well with the
operation, and thanks for taking the challenge i know the lord will
bless you and help you as you pray for opportunities they will come,
because we ask the members to do the same and they are having
experiences.
Ah so TRANSFERS - WE GOT A CAR NOW, driving on the left side of the
road isnt tooo bad im getting used to it, My new companions name is
Elder Fagg he is from London England hes a really great guy he is so
enthusiastic about the work and loves to work with people so we are
really excited we seem to click together teaching and we have set some
good goals so we hope to be able to get the area going! He is really
sick though, he has been losing weight and hasnt been able to keep any
food absorbed it all just passes right through him (he's lost about 60
lbs. in 3 months), so we went to the hospital with Doctor Callahan
(from St. gorge) and he had a colonoscopy and  stuff and they still
couldnt find anything wrong with him so hes having a hard time right
now, he tries his best to keep to the morning schedule and stuff but
he has sleeping problems as well because of the sickness so he tries
his best and i try to do what i can for him. hopefully he gets better
soon    Fast sunday was awesome, during the week we saw our 3
investigators multipul times and really committed them to come to
church because we have been inviting them for 6 weeks now and nothing,
so we fasted and prayed that our investigators would all be able to
come to church and receive the answers they were looking for and have
a good experience. and all but one came! WE WERE SO HAPPY first time
we have had more then one investigator at church! oh it was such a
blessing the lord helped so much because transport is a huge problem
for people here. so we arranged ride for all of them and  it was a
miracle everything worked out! so cool :)
ya i got a letter the other day so i think its ok- just use the
private bag x 4 address and it should be ok. yeah its getting cold
here! i miss the sound of home right now mom said its HOT hahah
but things are still slow but going good.  love you guys lots and

Yikes! It's May Already.

Hey!
wow time is flying by i have lost track of days but i think its been
about a month now, crazy! some interesting stuff Doc. Heartman the guy
who wrote the color code is serving a mission here in the area office
kinda cool....my companion is a red lol
we eat at a members recently and they make their own hummis! i was
like WOAH! my family makes it too! it was cool ill have to get the
recipe, plus at another members house on sunday we had custard for
deseret mmmmm good stuff! :) havent eaten anything crazy yet im still
in town, there arent any townships in my area so i wont be eating
chicken feet/ head for a while yet hahaha. But yes calling home THIS
SUNDAY!!! idk how its going to work but we think if we call about 8 at
night here we should get you right after church around 12 ish ??? not
sure, we were going to try and skype but president sent an e-mail
saying that is not allowed soooooo i will be calling sometime sunday
hahaha have your phone on and ready.
Yes i got sister Reber all the stuff she needed haha and some things
you can think about sending if you do send a package are: batteries,
flash drive, sheet protectors, american candy and LETTERS :)
We went to the Lion and Rhino park today for P-day WOAH! man i have
some cool pictures, i was so close to some of the animals i could have
rolled down the window and reached out and petted them hahah sooooo
cool, got to play with white lion cubs, and a cheeta!!!!!! man soooooo
cool. the work is progressing although our numbers dont show it.
people have a really hard time coming to church because of the
distance and they dont have any transport, but Peter who is one of our
investigators, we are going to try and get him to commit to a bapt.

Im learning the importance of member missinoary work, we can track all
day long but the BEST results come from when the members give the
referals, teach in the members home, and the members fellowship. it
makes such a HUGE difference all we can do is missionaries is teach
and help them along the path. so id like to Issue you all a missionary
challenge for the upcoming month: ready here it is- OPEN YOUR
MOUTH!!!! think about how many people you come in contact with each
day people at the store walking, ect. i know its hard cause there are
lots of members there and thats usually who you associate with but in
your day SOMEONE you meet can benifit from the gosple. just something
simple as inviting them over for FHE or just saying hey you know what
i can see family is important to you, my family is important to me as
well. just share something with someone that you know is true, you
never know how you can touch someones life :)

Last day of April, 2012

SORRY FORGOT SOME STUFF hahaha :)
we went to NIKE STADIUM last P-day and played soccer, one of the
places they used for the World cup that was awesome took lots of
pictures but can put them on here at the internet cafe hahah :/ but
had some good expeiences and met some interesting people. Met a
baptist preacher who told us a bunch of stuff that belive isnt true we
cant be calling our selves elders ect. ect. haha we are going to meet
with him again should be fun. tried to speak with a man on the road
but he was going to the bathroom.....have seen quite a bit of that
round here hahahahahah but road kill is nasty instead of cats and what
not you see squished rats and birds on the road haha. met a man who
had a lot of questions about how jesus walked on water and acended
into heaven and lots of other cool peopel :)

1st Area and new companion

HEY!
Wow what a week it has been, After we left the MTC we met President
and Sister Omer and have a mission feild breifing and then an
interview with President, after we went to the Transfer Meeting and
met our compaions, My trainers name is Elder Foster he is from
Aberdeen Idaho, hes a patotoe farmer hahaha but hes a good guy, really
helping me a lot getting used to the area and mission techinal stuff
like how to use planner take referals ect. He only has about 6 weeks
left so its kinda werid i just got here and he is getting ready to go
home. But we have been assingned to Open a new area!!!! The Roodeport
area, we cover the roodeport and raumsig wards. I live right across
the street from the MTC so that was a BIG move hahahah but its nice we
live next to a senior Couple the Levitts they are from Nevada. They
feed us sunday dinner and stuff they are really nice. But yeah like a
said we are opening a new area and its hard, really hard. We are on
bikes to, so we ride about 30-40 k's a day (kilometers) all over the
city. WOW what an experience that is, its so crazy all the people
riding through them, geez i cant even describe it. and at night its
just sketcky....even scary sometimes, but its all good hahah we
basically have no one to teach and tracking is near impossible because
everyone has gates and dogs so you buzz the gate the dogs come running
out, and you speak to the person throuhg the intercom, you say hi we
are missinoaries, we have a message, they say no thanks i already have
my church bye. so its pretty hard, so thats why its so critcal to get
referals from member and thats what we are working on right now
getting the wards on board and excited about mission work they seem
really excited and willing to help so that is good, we got a few
appointments set up at church so things are looking up but its still
hard. Anyways i had an amazing expereince on Friday. We had a list of
part member familes from the bishop to go visit so we rode our bikes
all over up hill pretty much half the day ( MY LEGS WERE JELL-O! ) but
anyways we had went to every house on the list and only met with one
person, either the rest had moved or were not home, so after the last
house Elder Foster looked at me and said, well Elder i dont know what
to do now, what do you think we should do....uhhhhhh talk about
dumbstruck! hahah i said i have no idea where we even are! he said i
know just as well as you were we are so its your turn just go wherever
you feel you should. So i said a prayer PLEASE HELP ME! LET ME FEEL
THE SPIRIT and what do you know it worked! i was peadeling my little
bike around looking around like a lost puppy i had noooo clue! we came
to an intersection and one way was up the hill and the other was down,
and i did NOT want to go up another hill....but i did got to the top
of the hill stopped looked around somemore i was still lost.....rode
across the street and decided that i needed to do something so i
started on the corner house and knocked on the gate, nothing so we
rode up the street a little ways and i saw house number 10 and bam i
knew i needed to buzz the gate, so i did, the dogs started barking
like usuall and a man came out, i was like oh great he looks like a
really scary dude. but he stuck his hand throuhg the gate and said hi
how are you would you like to come in? HOLY COW! talk about amazing,
anyways turns out this family had some really good member freind who's
daughter was on mission right now, so they new about missionaries and
took some pitty on us cause he said they know we walk around all day
and were tired and boy was i ever, But as we visited with Jan and
Carol they were so amazing, we talk about lots of stuff just getting
to know them and talk about the states and afica and all the cool
things and place we had been and just made freinds and built a
relatioship, then we set up a dinner appointment and are going back to
share a little message about families, after we got back home. i was
thinking and i asked Elder Foster do you think riding around all day
was worth it to just get into that one house? he said absolutly, do
you think it was worth it? The excitement i felt about being able to
talk with someone and just thinking of the possiblities of what can
happen i would have rode my bike up 5 more hills if i knew someone
was up there that would just listen! Elder Foster said if we had not
riden around all day to that point we wouldnt have been in that area,
i watched and the spirit led you right to that door! ITS SO
AMAZING!!!! im really excited and hope that they are receptive!
anyways thats my cool experience for the week hahah i love you all so
much! miss you lots hope all is well.
